Castle of the Dukes of Brittany was the official residence of the Breton leaders between the thirteenth and sixteenth century. He was then inhabited by various kings and princes with their course. It is now open to the public, houses a museum of decorative arts.
It is the fifteenth century reconstruction of a previous building dating from the thirteenth. It remains a vestige of the first castle: the Vieux Donjon. Francis II of Britain has decided to completely rebuild the castle in 1455 it was a residence for the Duke, but also a defensive fortress. The Duke wanted to counter the attacks and the Kingdom of France, but the area was still attached to the XVIth century.
The monument was then converted into a royal residence. His defenses were strengthened again, this time during the wars of religion. Henry lived there during his trip to Nantes to sign the edict allowing the practice of their religion to the Protestants.
