
In the seventeenth century, the building that stood at the current location of the Palace of Versailles was a small brick house for hunting. It included all the same royal apartments. They found the remains of the famous tennis court affected by Louis XIII. Subsequently, the house had several additions.
In 1651, Louis XVi, son of Louis III, went to visit the place. He used the old hunting lodge to take his mistress Louise de La Valliere. He finally decided to build a royal palace at Versailles, away from the capital and the people of Paris which he distrusted. There went a few days in the beginning, but eventually there permanently in 1682, while some development work had not been completed.
