
In all, there are more than 35,000 works that are presented here. It is divided into eight major areas: three are for antiquity according to their geographical origin, other sculptures, or the Islamic Art ... The most famous part of the museum is of course the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo Vinci between 1503 and 1506.
The collection is not fully shown in the permanent exhibits, the Louvre and therefore organizes temporary events. You can see objects more rarely shown. Note that the post-1848 works are exhibited in other museums in the capital, such as the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Georges Pompidou.
