The Louvre is one're the world's largest, with 60,600 square meters of exhibition space. He is a former royal palace, converted into a museum from 1793 and exhibits works of art from different parts of the world and covering a period from antiquity to 1848.In all, there are more than 35,000 works that are presented here. It is divided into eight major areas: three are for antiquity according to their geographical origin, other sculptures, or the Islamic Art ... The most famous part of the museum is of course the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo Vinci between 1503 and 1506.
The collection is not fully shown in the permanent exhibits, the Louvre and therefore organizes temporary events. You can see objects more rarely shown. Note that the post-1848 works are exhibited in other museums in the capital, such as the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Georges Pompidou.
